The Eagle Field of Honor is returning to Reid Merrill Park this Memorial Day. The event has been an Eagle tradition for 14 years; however, it will be a little different this year. The Eagle Field of Honor Organizing Committee and volunteers will begin installing flags on May 16th. The flags will fly in Reid Merrill Park (637 E. Shore Drive) until May 26th. Due to efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19, there will be no opening ceremony or barbeque this year, but the display will be open to the public and is free to all visitors. If you visit, please practice social distancing and be courteous of others.
The flags honor the service and sacrifice of members of the U.S. Military. If you would like to purchase a flag to honor a loved one and keep after the event is over, please visit https://www.healingfield.org/product/eagleid-2020-sponsor-a-flag-and-pick-up-your-flag/.We are still working out the details for people to pick up their flags after the event is over.
The Eagle Field of Honor is organized by a committee of hardworking local volunteers through the Colonial Flag Foundation. To read more about the history of the event and organization please visit https://www.healingfield.org/event/eagleid20/.
