Leaves are starting to fall here in Eagle, but what do you do with them? The City of Eagle provides a bundle of leaf bags to each household in exchange for a canned food donation. Bags will be available at City Hall (660 E. Civic Lane) from October 7 to November 22 or while supplies last. All canned food donations go to the Eagle Food Bank. The recycled leaves will be ground up and used as soil amendment.
Republic Services will begin curbside leaf pickup on October 21. On your regular trash day, set the leaves out on the curb in paper bags only. Please put the leaf bags and your trash a couple of feet apart. One truck will pick up the trash, another will pick up the leaves. The last day for curbside leaf pickup is November 30.
There will also be a leaf drop off center south of the Eagle Public Library (100 N. Stierman Way), in the same parking lot as the glass and plastic recycling drop off. The leaf drop off will be open from October 19 to December 8.
On a related note, Republic Services will be collecting household hazardous waste on Wednesday, October 9th. The collection also takes place in the parking lot south of the Eagle Public Library. Hours of operation are noon – 7:00 p.m. Hazardous waste such as used electronics, pesticides, cleaning supplies, paint, solvents and used motor oil will be collected.
